The Mexican midfielder continued his loan period and looked back fondly at his time at Chivas
Eduardo’Chofis’ Lopez admitted that he really missed playing for Chivas, but the San Jose Earthquake midfielder said that he is happy to adapt to life in MLS now.
Lopez joined the Earthquake on loan in January and reunited with former Chivas boss Matthias Almeida in Major League Soccer.
Passing the Chivas youth system before making 141 appearances for the club, Lopez admitted that he still has fond memories of his former team.
what did he say?
“Yes, I miss it, I will miss the Chivas Regal thing,” he said. “It is this team that gave me the opportunity to become a good football player, and I will always be grateful.”
“Physically speaking, I think they are big here, they are fast, they are very intense,” he added the difference between MLS and Liga MX, “and in Mexico, I think they are more technical than this. Gradually, some people say that these two alliances will unite, and that will be a great thing.”
The transfer to Major League Soccer gave Lopez another opportunity to play for Almeida, who has been responsible for the earthquake since 2018.
Lopez was full of praise for Almeida, saying that the coach felt he was just one of them.
“He is a great person,” he said. “Sometimes he doesn’t seem to be a coach! He always chooses the moments when he can work or play well. He is always nice to the players,”
The club currently ranks ninth in the Western Conference, Lopez scored three goals and provided assists in 17 games.
